PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC) is increasingly focusing on developing the data center business by applying ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) principles. This program is carried out in collaboration with an energy company, PT Medco Power Indonesia (Medco Power) towards Net Zero Emissions in Indonesia.

The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties. This signing was held at the 11th Indonesia New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Conference & Exhibition (EBTKE ConEx) conference at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, Banten, last July. The signing of this memorandum of understanding is a form of collaboration to carry out a joint study on green energy power as well as a provider of renewable energy for the needs of the NeutraDC data center starting in Batam.

CEO of PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC), Andreuw Th.A.F, said that since the beginning the construction of the hyperscale data center building has been designed with the concept of decarbonization. So this collaboration is in line with NeutraDC principles in terms of using renewable energy. "We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration. Net Zero Emission has always been a concern for our company. We also want to play a role in carrying out Indonesia's Net Zero Emission target by 2060," said Andreuw.

Renewable Energy HDC Cikarang

The large electricity use capacity to run hyperscale data center operations is the reason for NeutraDC to commit to implementing decarbonization. Previously, Medco Power had signed a memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture to develop and build a data center owned by Telkom Indonesia in Batam in June 2022. Cooperation in the form of a memorandum of understanding is the first step for both parties to carry out joint discussions and evaluations in formulating the green data center concept.

Currently NeutraDC has a large capacity database (hyperscale data center) in Cikarang. This database has implemented renewable energy for data center purposes, in collaboration with Pertamina Power Indonesia (PPI). Not only that, NeutraDC is also building a hyperscale data center (HDC) in Batam on an area of 5 hectares. With the design of establishing three international standard campuses with an IT load capacity of 51MW, HDC Batam will also apply renewable energy, be environmentally friendly and adopt a multi-tier system, in order to maintain optimal data security.

Going forward, NeutraDC hopes to continue implementing renewable energy in all of its data centers to support better environmental sustainability.
