PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC), plans to build a hyperscale data center in the Kabil Integrated Industrial Estate (KIIE) in Batam.

The facility will have an ultimate capacity of 51 MW IT load (17 MW in the initial phase) and will follow the concept of a green data center, serving both Batam and Singapore. Indrama YM Purba, the CEO of PT Teknologi Data Infrastruktur (NeutraDC Batam), emphasized the importance of reliable infrastructure and supportive investment policies in developing the data center industry.

"Batam offers unique opportunities due to its strategic location near global financial centers like Singapore and neighboring countries. Additionally, the safe seismic conditions in Kabil make it an ideal location for building data center facilities," stated Indrama, (11/13/2023).

According to Indrama, NeutraDC's decision to establish a data center in Batam is based on the significant potential offered by the market. "We are excited to announce NeutraDC's involvement in developing the data center industry in Batam. This decision is based on in-depth market analysis and the remarkable potential in Batam," he said.

"We believe that collaboration with local stakeholders will bring positive benefits to all parties involved," he added.

According to recent research by industry experts, the data center industry in Batam is increasingly promising, offering significant opportunities for companies looking to expand their operations in the Southeast Asian region.

In the rapidly evolving digital world, high-quality digital ecosystem facilities are required to support e-commerce, cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and more. In the coming years, the demand for data centers is expected to grow significantly.

The Hyperscale Data Center (HDC) in Batam will be built on approximately 5 hectares of land with a total of three globally standardized campuses. In the initial phase of construction, it will start with an IT load of around 5 MW in 2025 and will continue to increase according to demand.

HDC Batam will not only serve various domestic business needs but will also act as a gateway for hyperscalers to enter Indonesia. In building the data center in Batam, NeutraDC collaborates with Singaporean telecommunications company ST Dynamo ID Pte Ltd and energy company PT Medco Power Indonesia. This collaboration is a strong partnership aligned with NeutraDC's role in building data centers.

The presence of data centers in Batam will complement NeutraDC's existing digital ecosystem. Currently, NeutraDC has three enterprise-scale data centers in Sentul, Serpong, and Surabaya with Tier III and IV classifications. Additionally, there is a hyperscale data center in Cikarang with Tier III and IV classifications.
